Repentance

Hello lovely! Thank you for joining me. I’m so glad to be with you today.

Let’s talk about repentance.

Repentance is the act of turning away from your sins and giving them entirely to God.

“I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

Luke 5:32 (NIV)

The Lord knows we are all sinners, but the question is- do we know we are sinners? Do we go to God will a heavy heart knowing that we have caused Him pain? Or do we strut out stuff flaunting it in His face? Which person are you??

I’d like to think that I am somewhere in the middle, unaware and ignorant until something happens to make me humble again. Let me tell ya, the cycle happens a lot.

Acts 3:19 says,

Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. Then times of refreshment will come from the presence of the Lord, and he will again send you Jesus, your appointed Messiah.”

(NLT)

What sins are present in your life? There is a way to repent and be saved, all you have to do is accept Jesus into your life as your Lord and Savior. Tell Him (in any way) what your sins are and turn from them. It’s that simple.

Don’t have the right words? That’s ok, just start speaking to him, write it out, say it in a prayer, or think it in your mind, whatever the case- just start. He will hear you and forgive you for your past, He will welcome you with open arms and hold onto you tightly. Don’t worry, He has your back. There is nothing too troublesome for Him to handle.

“Repentance is a principle of hope and healing, not of discouragement and despair. It is humbling but not frightening- simultaneously demanding & comforting, rigorous & soothing.”

-David A Bednar

We become free from the bondage of our sins, and we find joy.” (Church of Jesus Christ, Chapter 19: Repentance)

To Repent:

  1. We must first acknowledge our sin(s).
  2. Feel ashamed because we are sinning.
  3. Bring our sins to God.
  4. Turn away from the sin in our lives.
  5. Keep praying.
  6. Forgive others for their sin.

Repentance is a beautiful thing. The more knowledge we have about it, the better our lives will be. So, start now. What can you repent for?

Thank you for reading and God Bless you.

Love, Kelley
