Guidance

Hello lovely! Thank you for joining me. I’m so glad to be with you today.

I would like to talk about guidance for this post. Many of us struggle with where to go, what path to take and how to get to out destination. I am here to help you out!

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Matthew 7:7-8

For guidance, all we really need to do is pray and LISTEN. It is not enough to just pray about what we need guidance on. That is a huge step, but we need to find out how to truly listen to the Lord when He responds to our questions.

How to listen better to the Lord:

  1. Pray.
  2. Wait 10-15 mins. Try to sit in solitude with no distractions.
  3. Write down anything that comes to mind during this time. That is what God is saying to you.
  4. Write down any pictures or words that He is telling you to follow.
  5. Creative write. You can journal or write a poem, whatever comes to mind.
  6. Pray again. This step is very important. You can pray again to ask God that you have listened well and truly gotten what He has spoken.

Here is a guidance prayer template, if you do not like this one you can do something similar. Just be sure to include: 1) Your request for guidance (what do you need guidance on or about?), 2) Seeking His voice and not the voice of the enemy, and 3) Ask that God and the Holy Spirit talk to you in a way that makes sense to you and in a way that you will hear it. This example is more in-depth in case you need it.

Listening prayer template

“Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, your son, and according to James 1:5. I am seeking guidance for _____________(your request).

In the name of Jesus, according to Matthew 28:18 and Luke 10:19-20, I take authority over Satan and his fallen angels and command that they be rendered deaf, mute, and blind to my prayers, and removed from my presence.

I submit my own voice to the shed blood of Jesus and command that my own thoughts be taken captive to the obedience of Christ, according to 2 Corinthians 10:5.

I ask, Father, that only your Holy Spirit will speak to me now as I wait on you for wisdom, insight, and direction. And whatever you show me or direct me to do, I pray that I will quickly obey.

In Jesus’s mighty name, amen.”

A friend asked me for guidance and I promised I would pray for them. So, ask the people around you if they need prayer for guidance as well. Maybe through your prayer for them, you will find your answer.

Thank you for reading and God Bless you.

Love, Kelley
