Negativity & the Armor of God

Hello lovely! Thank you for joining me. I’m so glad to be with you today.

I wanted to bring up negativity and the Armor of God. It is my belief that it is our human nature to focus on negativity before gratitude and positivity. It stemmed from survival. If we saw a bear in the woods and heard the grunting and roaring- we would first be in fear and run or flee in hopes that we would not be attacked. We would then remember the bear as a bad thing and that’s how we survive. Fight or flight saves our lives. However, not everything calls for a negative situation. So we must fight negativity with the Armor of God.

“Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.”

Ephesians 6:11 (NLT)

We know that the enemy is the king of lies. He breads negativity into the soul to wreak havoc unto you. Don’t let this happen. Instead put on the full armor of God, so that we can combat negativity.

“… Putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Ephesians 6:14-17 (NLT)

The Lord gives us the tools to do well in life, we just have to utilize them correctly. The armor itself is Jesus Christ. We must bare him through the good & the bad and positive & negative situations.

The belt of truth is is Jesus. He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6).

The body armor of God’s righteousness is a breastplate meant to protect the vital organ of the heart. Therefore, “Our righteousness, both in thought and deed, protects the core of our spiritual lives.” (Church of Latter-Day Saints, The Armor of God)

The shows of peace means living a peaceful life. Your feet carry you through every journey and are what walks you in the right direction. Hence the strategy of walking through life peacefully to reach your destination and goals.

The shield of faith is our defense against the harmful and corrupt things of this world. Your faith can protect you in everyway. “Our faith, if it is built upon Christ and His gospel, can defend us against the adversary’s numerous onslaughts, just as a shield, if it is made of the right material, will withstand volleys of fiery darts.” (Church of Latter-Day Saints, The Armor of God)

The helmet of salvation is there to help direct us in our life’s journey. Salvation (also known as redemption or deliverance) means “to save, help in distress, rescue, deliver, set free”. (biblestudytools.com, Salvation). Therefore, The helmet of salvation is our best effort in rescuing us from this corrosive life, so that we may life the right way as God intended.

Finally, the sword of the Spirit is referring to the Word of God. Swords are used in battle likewise, the Word of God can be used for spiritual warfare. “With our testimony and the power and peace of God’s Spirit, we can strike against and conquer the enemy of all righteousness.” (Church of Latter-Day Saints, The Armor of God).

So then, we must equip ourselves with the full armor that God gives each of us. It will help us conquer negativity that fires at us, teach us to handle ourselves in life and ow to appropriately reach our destination.

Thank you for reading and God Bless you.

Love, Kelley
