Hello lovely! Thank you for joining me. I’m so glad to be with you today.
Sine today is Independence Day (4th of July-for my readers outside of the US), I thought it would be fitting to talk about freedom in Christ and the Independence that we receive from the flesh.
“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.”
Galatians 5:13
We have freedom from the sin that bind us. Through Christ who died on the cross for us. We are set free. But it is important that we use our freedom and free-will for good, to bring honor to the Lord.
There is a song called Amen by For King & Country. I pulled some of the lyrics that I thought were fitting to this post. I have never heard this song before and it popped up first as I write this.
Resurrection day is here
Bells are ringing loud and clear
Caterpillar to a butterfly
Risen to another life
Risen to another lifeWe’re coming alive, with You
I’m coming alive, with You
I was living a lie, still You
I’m coming alive, with YouAmen
…
You’re in my blood, my veins
In every word I pray
You gave it all for me
I’ll give it all for You
Oh I’m in love with You
Overwhelmed by You
And if the world is listening
This is my confession
You are my obsessionAmen
Amen- For King & Country (Lyrics)
We were given another life; reborn. Let’s use it for good. Yes, we are free and have freedom to make our own choices, but living a holy life is the most vital thing that we can do. To not sin knowingly, and to work on ourselves in a way that corrects our life.
“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
John 8:32
We know when we are sinning. We know the truth of it. We also know that the power of the Holy Spirit will guide us to a better place, with better intentions and give us a way to organize our lives. It is entirely up to you. That is the wonderful thing about freedom- we can choose.
Ill add a few other scriptures too so you get a full picture of freedom and independence from the flesh:
“Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.”
1 Peter 2:16-17
“Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free.”
Psalm 118:5
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to captives and freedom to prisoners.”
Isaiah 61:1
“You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”
Romans 6:18
“That the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.”
Romans 8:21
Finally, I will put in my favorite scripture (I have used it in my Transformation post, but it needs to be stated here as well).
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Romans 12:2 (NLT)
We are to focus on Godly things and not the flesh of this world. We are stretched so far over so many different areas, but we need to remember that we were given 1 life on Earth and we need to use it wisely. So, be free. Enjoy your life, but bring honor to the Lord.
Thank you for reading and God Bless you.
Love, Kelley
