Depression

Hello lovely! Thank you for joining me. I’m so glad to be with you today.

I want to discuss the topic of depression. We have all felt it one time or another, some of us feel its devastating blows more often or more severely, but we all have felt depression in our lives.

As you may know, I have Bipolar 2 disorder. It comes with peaks of hypomania and plummets of depression. I am currently in my depressive phase and boy is it fun…

When I am depressed, I want nothing more than to sleep life away and be consumed by my glume. However, God has better plans for me.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

I am reminded that it is not God who causes me to feel this way, but the enemy. The enemy wants to sever our ties with the Lord and keep us from knowing God. Therefore, it is when we are in our darkest moments that we direct our focus to God and not on ourselves.

“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”

Matthew 6:34 (MSG)

Although it may be hard: in your depression, seek God first.

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

Psalm 23:4 (NLT)

The Lord is with us wherever we go. He is with us in the good times and the dark times.

“I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 (NLT)

In Christ, we find peace. And peace is the remedy for depression. So, the next time you find yourself in a depressive state, ask yourself, is your focus on God? If not, then simply pray and change your focus. I believe in you, what goes down must come up eventually. Have faith and hope for the ‘up’ moment. I do not have any links for you this time, my apologies.

Thank you for reading and God Bless you.

Love, Kelley
