Depression (Part 2)

Hello lovely! Thank you for joining me. I’m so glad to be with you today.

Let’s continue with our conversation of depression.

Depression weighs us down. It brings us to such a low point that we cannot fathom when we are feeling decent or good, but here it is, bringing us lower and lower- until we are in a dark abyss with no light in sight.

In the Bible, Job went through everything that could happen to a human: loss of loved ones, loss of property, physical pain, etc. and he still believed in God and of His kind nature. It wasn’t always like that though, although Job had faith, he had no idea what God’s plan for him was. He begged for his life to end, he begged for his life to have never started and he begged for him to have passed once he was born. None of that happened, why? Because God had a plan for him. Finally, after everything that Job had been through, he decided that he still had faith in the Lord and did not blame Him for what had happened to Job.

What a story.

“I waited patiently for the LORD to help me, and he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what he has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the LORD.”

Psalms 40:1-3 (NLT)

Jonah sought revenge and bitterness toward the people of Nineveh for the injustice that they portrayed in their daily life, yet, God spared him. Jonah was so angry and upset that he wished he was dead.

There are more countless stories of people in the Bible that resulted in a deep depression, the common factor is that by the grace of God, they did not give up. They each found hope and faith through Jesus Christ and believed so deeply in the Lord.

Be that person. In all of your hurt, pain, denial, shame and blame: be the person who believes in the Lord, that has the faith that He will save you and has the hope that He will bring you back to a higher place than you are in now.

It will not be like this for long.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

You are NOT alone. God is with you, every step of the way.

Thank you for reading and God Bless you.

Love, Kelley
